Jasbir Singh focuses his practice on patent prosecution and counseling with respect to intellectual property matters. Jasbir has originated and prosecuted numerous patent applications directed to inventions in the fields of computer science and electrical engineering, as well as other technical areas. Additionally,  Jasbir has successfully handled patent reexaminations, third-party Information Disclosure Statements, appeals to the BPAI, and prepared and prosecuted foreign and international applications.

Jasbir’s practice also includes preparing validity, infringement, and patentability opinions, substantive revision of foreign origin applications, and licensing agreements with emphasis in technical areas.  Jasbir has also litigated before U.S. District Courts and the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.  His experience encompasses all phases of litigation from preparing pre-litigation opinions, writing invalidity and infringement contentions, developing fact and expert witnesses, managing mock jury trials, negotiating settlements and trial.

Before joining Capitol City TechLaw, Jasbir served as an associate for over six years with Winston and Strawn, LLP and its IP practice in Washington, DC.  In a seminal litigation, Jasbir was a core member member of Winston’s trial team representing Verizon against Vonage, which resulted in a verdict against Vonage of $58 million in damages, plus royalties on future sales in the District Court (settled for $120 million after appeal at the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit).Prior to entering private practice, Jasbir spent fifteen years as a Software and Electrical Engineer at various high technology companies such as BAE Systems, MITRE and Automation Research Systems.  His work included embedded systems, graphic design, operating system development, database development, secure-operating systems, and web-based systems.
